From Executive Director and Co-Founder Carie Broecker:
Peace of Mind Dog Rescue is a resource and advocate for senior dogs and senior people on the Central Coast. We find loving homes for dogs whose guardians can no longer care for them and for senior dogs in shelters. Since October 2009, we have rescued close to 500 dogs left behind. We have an average of 60 dogs in our care at any given time. Our dogs are cared for in foster homes. All of our senior dogs receive a senior exam and blood work, dental cleaning, vaccines, microchip, any lump biopsied and removed, and any other necessary medical treatment to put their best paw forward for adoption. Once a dog is adopted we follow up with the adopter several times the first year and then annually for the rest of their life to be sure all the dogs we adopt out continue to thrive in their new environment.
