DID YOU KNOW:
The Animal History Museum is dedicated to understanding and celebrating the human-animal bond. We invite you to take a few minutes to browse through the library, art & media galleries of our 150+page, content-rich, website.
You’ll also find that our advisory council, content developers and board are made up of several dozen scholars, authors, attorneys, artists and others who are all nationally – and internationally – respected in various animal-related disciplines.
Our planned permanent exhibits include the human-animal bond; the history of animals throughout society, art, literature, TV & film, as well as pop culture; animals & intelligence; the development of animal welfare, rights & law; plant-based food trends; animals & religion and more. Our social media community is already more than 20,000 strong across four platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
Finally, browse through our past events to see that we’ve been creating and participating in activities across the L.A.-area, such as offering children’s programming at beloved institutions from the Skirball Cultural Center in West L.A. to the Kidspace Museum in Pasadena and the Millard Sheets Arts Center at the L.A. County Fairplex in Pomona; a cruelty-free fashion show in Hollywood, book chats from Angel City Brewery downtown to Pussy & Pooch in Beverly Hills, as well as tabling at festivals from the annual L.A. Environmental Education Fair at the L.A. Arboretum to DTLA Artwalk to Woofstock Malibu.
We are creating a unique museum for the thoughtful exploration of one of the most complex and enduring – but historically trivialized – aspects of civilization: the human-animal relationship. We’re excited about what the future holds for the Animal History Museum. If you’re excited too, we hope you’ll join us and let’s make history together!
